Finally we have reasonable internet! We are up at Woodgate Beach, on the Wide Bay coast in Queensland. Due to me having to have an operation on the 17th of July, we have taken the opportunity to head up the Coast.

It's not quite the same as doing the lap of Australia as previously planned but it is a pretty good substitute.

At first we found our way up to a beautiful caravan park near Childers called Redbrook Lake Caravan Park. It is a wonderfully relaxing place near a little lake with water birds and lots of other animals around to keep us interested. Gary and Sharon are absolutely the best of hosts and made our stay all the more worthwhile.

I was given free access to the Kayaks while we were there and took full advantage. Kayaking about on the lake, I was able to try out my new GoPro 5 with absolute satisfaction. The bird life is really amazing with Ducks, Black Swans, Australian Spoon bills, Pelicans and many other birds.

Then it was a drive of about 23 kilometres from there to Woodgate and we are having wonderfully peaceful walks on the beach and great conversation with some of the other people we have met.

Here are a few photos to explain:

Hi everybody; Wow; time is passing very quickly now and we have been just finalising the details with the house renovations. Today the photos, for our photo wall, are going to be selected and printed. When we have those up and done, we will be well and truly organised. I'll do a little bit of gardening out the back and that's about all there is to be done. Tomorrow will be a big day, I am going up to the caravan and I will be pulling all of the stuff out to clean it and just do some preparation. The cover will come off and I have to fix the new Jockey wheel to the van. Today's post is just a few comments to remind you all that I am still here and keeping the blog going until we get on the road in Ernest. That is when I will start to blog some real information about our trip. Thank's for continuing to check out our blog, I see that there is a constant stream of visits! Richard
